Emails and SMS

Your shop can write to a customer by email or by SMS, and every message leaves under your shop's own sender. An email is sent from an address on your own domain name, once you have verified it; an SMS carries a sender name of your choice once it is approved. Open Email or SMS from the tools icon (the wrench) in the top-right corner of the header, under Messaging. Each screen has three tabs: Overview, History and Search.

Set up your email sender

  1. In the top-right corner of the header, click the tools icon (the wrench), then under Messaging click Email.
  2. On the Sender card, click Configure the sender.
  3. Enter the Name of the sender — the name your customers see — and the Email address of the sender.
  4. Click Next.

The message The sender has been saved. appears. The Sender address and the Domain name both show Not verified until you complete the two verifications below.

Note — The address must be on your own domain name: free addresses such as Gmail or Yahoo are not accepted.

Verify your sender address

  1. Open Email.
  2. On the Sender card, next to Sender address, click Start the verification.
  3. Enter the Verification code sent to the sender address.
  4. Click Next.

The message The validation has been completed. appears, and the sender address shows Verified.

Verify your domain name

  1. Open Email.
  2. On the Sender card, next to Domain name, click Begin the verification.
  3. Check that the domain name is yours, then click Check. The records to add are shown.
  4. In your domain provider's account, add each record shown with its Type, Subdomain and Value: the Brevo code, DKIM record 1, DKIM record 2 and the DMARC record.
  5. Back in the workspace, click Next.

Each record shows Validated once it is found, or Not found; the domain name shows Validated once it is authenticated.

Note — If DNS records have not yet been detected for this domain. appears, wait a few minutes after adding the records, then click Next again.

Choose your SMS sender name

  1. In the header, click the tools icon (the wrench), then under Messaging click SMS.
  2. On the Your SMS sender card, click Configure the sender.
  3. Enter the Name of the sender: letters and digits only, 3 to 11 characters.
  4. Click Next.

The message The sender has been saved. appears. The name is shown as the Requested name until our team approves it; until then, your SMS keep going out under the shared sender.

Send an email or an SMS to a customer

  1. Open Email or SMS.
  2. On the Send an email (or Send an SMS) card, choose Custom message in Message type, then click Next.
  3. In Customer, start typing a name and pick the customer in the list.
  4. For an email, enter the Subject.
  5. Write your Message.
  6. Click Send.

The message The message has been queued for sending. appears. Your shop's name is added at the start of every email subject and every SMS.

Note — You can email a customer only once your sender address and your domain name are verified, and only customers with an email address (or, for an SMS, a phone number) are listed.

Tip — An SMS holds 160 characters: a longer message is split and billed as several SMS. Every email and SMS counts in your usage.

Find a message you sent

  1. Open Email or SMS, then click the History tab to see the latest messages, with their Recipient, Status and Scheduled on date.
  2. To narrow the list, choose an Origin — Web for the messages you sent from the workspace, System for the ones your shop sends automatically.
  3. To find one message, click the Search tab, type a keyword such as the recipient, then click Search.

Delete your email sender

  1. Open Email.
  2. On the Sender card, click Delete the sender.
  3. Check the sender, then click Delete.

The message The sender has been deleted. appears. You can add a sender again at any time.
