Vouchers

A voucher is a discount your customers get on their order: a percentage or a fixed amount, on the whole shop or on one category, for a period you choose. It applies on its own, or only when a customer types its code at checkout. Everything happens in Vouchers, under Marketing in the main menu.

Create a voucher

  1. Open the main menu and, under Marketing, click Vouchers.
  2. Click Add a voucher.
  3. On Create a voucher, enter a Name. This is the only required field.
  4. Optionally, add a Description, and enter the code customers type at checkout in Code (optional).
  5. Under Discount, choose the Discount type — Percentage or Fixed amount — and enter the Value.
  6. Under Period, choose a Start date and an End date. Leave a date empty for an open-ended voucher.
  7. Under Products, leave Scope on Entire shop, or choose Selected category and pick the Category. Optionally, choose the Country where the voucher is valid.
  8. Click Create the voucher.

The message The voucher has been created. appears. The voucher is not used on orders yet: activate it when you are ready.

Note — Leave Code (optional) empty to apply the offer automatically, without a code. A fixed amount is in your shop's currency.

Activate or suspend a voucher

  1. Open Vouchers and click the All vouchers tab.
  2. Click Detail at the end of the voucher's row.
  3. Click Activate (or Suspend if the voucher is already active).
  4. Check the Current status and the New status, then click Confirm.

The message Offer status updated. appears and the change applies immediately. Suspending does not delete the voucher: you can activate it again at any time.

Add a code to a voucher

A voucher can carry several codes — one anyone may use, or a code reserved for one customer.

  1. Open the voucher, then click the Codes tab.
  2. Click Add a code.
  3. Enter the Code — this field is required.
  4. Leave Holder empty for a code anyone may use, or choose a customer to issue the code to them alone.
  5. Optionally, set Valid from, Valid until and a Usage limit.
  6. Click Add the code.

The code is listed on the Codes tab. A Usage limit of 0 lets the code be used without limit.

Note — Each code must be unique in your shop. If it is already used, the message That code is already in use in this shop. A second row carrying it would take over from the first. appears — choose another code.

Change a voucher's discount, period or scope

Each part of a voucher is edited from its own card on the Overview tab.

  1. Open the voucher.
  2. On the card you want to change, click Edit:
    • Discount: change the Discount type, the Discount value and the Minimum purchase amount.
    • Validity: change the Start date and the End date.
    • Scope: under Where the offer applies, choose Entire shop, A product or A category, then pick the product or category.
  3. Click Save.

The message Changes saved. (or Scope saved. for the scope) appears, and the card shows the new values. To rename the voucher or change its description, click Edit next to Delete on the General information card.

Note — The end date cannot be earlier than the start date. The start date opens its day and the end date closes it, so a voucher ending on the 30th is valid all day on the 30th.

Follow a voucher's performance

  1. Open the voucher.
  2. Click the Performance tab.

You see how many times it was used (Redemptions) and by how many Distinct customers, the Total discount granted, the Total sales it generated, and its Period and limit.
