Pages and sections
Your storefront's pages are built from sections stacked from top to bottom: a banner, a gallery, testimonials, a call to action, a product highlight… A section is prepared once in your section library, then placed on as many pages as you like. Pages and sections are both born as drafts, so you can prepare them calmly and put them online when they are ready.
You work from two screens: open the main menu and, under Store builder, click Pages to manage your pages, or Sections to manage your section library.
Create a page
- Open the main menu and, under Store builder, click Pages.
- On the Overview tab, click Create a page.
- In Name, enter the page's name, for example About us. This field is required.
- In Address, enter the address of the page on your shop. This field is required too.
- In Page type, choose what the page is for — for example Home, About us, Contact or Blank.
- Optionally, add a Description (optional), then click Create page.
The message The page has been created. appears. The page is created as a draft: add sections to it, then put it online (see below).
Note — Each page needs its own address. If it is taken, the message This address is already used by another page. appears.
Create a reusable section
- Open the main menu and, under Store builder, click Sections.
- On the Overview tab, click Create a section.
- In Section name, enter a name to find it in your library. Your visitors never see it.
- In Category, choose Visual sections, Selling sections, Trust sections or Text sections.
- Under Section type, click the type you want. For example: Banner, Homepage banner or Gallery (visual); Product highlight or Deal spotlight (selling); Testimonials, Reassurance or Press band (trust); Text, Call to action or Social network banner (text).
- Click Create the section.
The message The section has been created. appears. The section is born as a draft, with no content yet.
Fill in a section's content
- On the Sections screen, click the All sections tab, then click Detail on the section's row.
- Below the section's summary, each card holds one part of its content — for example Section title, Slideshow or Call to action. On a card, click Edit.
- Fill in the panel that opens, then click Save.
- Repeat for each card you want to fill in.
The Preview at the top of the page shows the section as your storefront paints it, on Desktop or Mobile.
Place a section on a page
- Open the main menu and, under Store builder, click Pages.
- Click the All pages tab, then click Detail on the page's row.
- Click the Content tab, then click Add a section.
- In An existing section, choose the section from your library.
- Click Add the section.
The message The section has been added to the page. appears. The section lands at the end of the page; use the up arrow (Move up) and the down arrow (Move down) on its row to change its place.
Note — A section is created once and can be placed on several pages: repeat these steps on each page. Its content lives in the section itself, so when you edit it, the change shows on every page that carries it. The section's Usage tab lists those pages.
Put a section and a page online
A section goes online in two steps: Activate takes it out of the drafts, then Publish puts it on the site.
- Open the section (Sections, All sections tab, Detail).
- Click Activate, then click Activate again to confirm. The message Block status updated. appears; the section is not on the site yet.
- Click Publish, then click Publish again to confirm. The section goes live on the site.
- Open the page (Pages, All pages tab, Detail).
- On the Overview tab, click Put online, then click Put online again to confirm.
The message Page status updated. appears and the page becomes visible to visitors.
Tip — On the page's Overview tab, click Preview the shop to see the result on your storefront.
Schedule a section
You can show a section only on certain days, for example during a sale.
- Open the section, then click Schedule.
- In Start date and End date, choose the days the section appears. Leave a date empty to keep that side open.
- For a section with several banners, you can also give each Banner its own dates.
- Click Save.
The message Schedule saved. appears. The section appears on your shop from its start date and disappears once its end date is over, with nothing to do on the day.
Tip — When an event is over, click Copy to next year to prepare the same days for the following year.
Take a section off one page
- Open the published section, then click Unpublish.
- Under Where should it stop showing?, choose On one page only, then choose the page under Which page?.
- Click Unpublish.
The message Block removed from that page. appears. The section stays online on every other page. To take it off the site as a whole, choose On every page instead.
