Warranties
A warranty says how long a product is covered and under what conditions. You create your warranties once, in the catalog Settings, then put products under them. One warranty can be your shop's Default warranty: the cover your whole catalog falls back to. Open the main menu and, under Catalog, click Settings, then click the Warranties tab.
Add a warranty
- Open the main menu and, under Catalog, click Settings, then click the Warranties tab.
- Click Add a warranty.
- Enter its Name. It is the only required field.
- In Duration (months), enter how many months it runs. Leave 0 if you have not set a length yet.
- Optionally, describe in Conditions what the warranty covers, in your own words.
- In Default warranty, choose Yes to make it the cover of your whole catalog, or keep No.
- Click Save.
The message The warranty has been added. appears, and the warranty is listed on the Warranties tab with its Duration (months), Default warranty and Products covered.
Note — Your shop has only one default warranty. Choosing Yes on another warranty takes the default off the previous one.
Understand which warranty a product gets
A product can be covered three ways: by the Default warranty, by the warranty of its category, and by the warranty named on the product itself.
The longest cover wins: the three are compared, and the one that covers longest is the one shown. A product that names a 6-month warranty while your default warranty runs 12 months is shown with the 12-month one. To name a warranty on a product, see Products and variants; for a category, see Categories.
Put a product under a warranty
- On the Warranties tab, click Detail at the end of the warranty's row.
- Click the Products tab.
- Click Cover a product.
- In Product, pick the product. Only your current products that do not already name this warranty are offered; deleted products never are.
- Click Save.
The message Your changes have been saved. appears and the field is cleared, so you can cover another product straight away. Close the panel to see the product in the list. The How it is covered column says whether the warranty is Named on the product, comes By its category or By the default warranty.
Note — A product names one warranty only. Picking a product that already names another warranty moves it to this one.
Take a product out of a warranty
- Open the warranty and click the Products tab.
- Click Remove at the end of the product's row.
- On Uncover a product, click Remove to confirm.
The message Your changes have been saved. appears. This removes the cover only: the product itself is untouched, and it is still covered by its category's warranty or the default warranty, if there is one.
Edit a warranty
- On the Warranties tab, click Detail at the end of the warranty's row. The Overview tab shows its Name, Status, Duration (months), Default warranty, Products covered and Conditions.
- Click Edit.
- On Edit the warranty, change the Name, Duration (months), Conditions or Default warranty.
- Click Save.
The message Your changes have been saved. appears. Close the panel to see the warranty updated.
Delete a warranty
- Open the warranty and click Delete.
- On Delete the warranty, check its details, then under Delete this warranty click Remove.
The message The warranty has been deleted. appears. Close the panel: you are taken back to the Warranties tab.
Important — The products the warranty covers stop being covered by it at once. The warranty is only hidden, never erased.
