Products and variants
Your products are managed from Products, under Catalog in the main menu. A new product is saved as a draft: your shop only sells it once you activate it. To sell the same item in several sizes or colours, you create one product per version and gather them in a product group, which your shop shows as a single page with a choice for each size or colour.
Create a product
- Open the main menu and, under Catalog, click Products.
- Click Add a product.
- On Add a product, enter the product's Name. This is the only required field.
- Optionally, choose its Brand, and fill in Description and Reference (SKU).
- In Category, choose the category the product belongs to.
- In Grade, choose the condition the product is sold in.
- Enter its Price and its opening Stock, then click Add the product.
The message The product has been added. appears. The product is in your catalog as a draft, not yet on sale.
Tip — Images are added from the product's Images tab once the product exists. See Add your first product.
Put a product on sale or take it off sale
- In Products, click the All products tab, then click the name of the product. It opens on its Overview tab.
- Click Activate to put it on sale, or Suspend to take an active product off sale.
- On Change product status, check the current and new status, then click Confirm.
The message Product status updated. appears. Only active products are sold on your shop.
Note — Archive also takes a product off sale and out of the way. To bring an archived product back, open it and click Restore.
Change a product's category, brand or details
- Open the product.
- On its Overview tab, click Edit.
- On Edit product, change the Name, Reference (SKU), Shipping weight (kg), Category, Warranty or Brand.
- Click Save.
The message Changes saved. appears.
Sell a product in several grades
A product can be offered in up to five grades (N, A, B, C and D), each with its own price and its own stock, under one reference.
- Open the product, then click the Prices tab.
- Click Add a grade.
- In Grade, choose a grade the product does not have yet.
- Enter its Price and its Opening stock.
- Click Add.
The message Saved. appears and the grade is listed with its price and stock.
Create variants with a product group
A product group gathers the products that are one item sold in several versions — for example the same T-shirt in S, M and L. Each version is a product of its own; the group shows them on your shop as one page, with one row of choices per axis (size, colour…).
Note — First create the characteristic (for example "Size") and its list of values, then give each product its value on its Characteristics tab. See Characteristics and brands.
- Open the main menu and, under Catalog, click Settings, then click the Groups tab.
- Click Add a group, enter its Name, then click Add. The message Saved. appears.
- In the list of groups, click Detail on your group's row, then click the Axes tab.
- Click Add an axis. In Source, choose From a characteristic.
- In Characteristic, choose the characteristic your versions differ by.
- In Kind, choose how your shop draws the choices: Pills, Color swatches, Cards or List. Then click Add.
The message Saved. appears and the axis is listed on the Axes tab. Add one axis per characteristic your versions differ by.
Note — Color swatches need a colour characteristic. In Source, From the grades builds the axis from the products' grades instead.
Add products to a group
- Open the group, then click the Products tab.
- Click Add a product.
- In Product, choose the product that joins the group.
- Click Add.
The message Saved appears. Repeat for each version. On each axis, a product's place follows the value set on its own Characteristics tab.
Tip — You can also join a group from the product itself: on its Overview tab, click Group, choose the group in Group, then click Save. A product belongs to one group at a time.
Delete a product
- Open the product.
- On its Overview tab, click Delete.
- On Delete product?, check the product's details, then click Delete product.
The message The product has been deleted. appears. The product is removed from your catalog, but its history is kept.
