Membership

A membership program rewards your loyal customers. Each member holds one level at a time and gets that level's discount and benefits in your shop. Customers can buy a paid membership at checkout, and memberships can also come from a manual grant or an import. Everything happens in Membership, under Marketing in the main menu.

Set up your membership program

Start here: you can't add levels until the program has its settings.

  1. Open the main menu and, under Marketing, click Membership.
  2. On the Program card, click Configure.
  3. In Membership settings, choose a Status: Draft while you prepare the program, Activated when it's ready.
  4. Under Program, enter a Name, a Web address and an Accent colour.
  5. Under Paid membership, enter the SKU of the paid offer sold at checkout, a Purchase link and the Duration (days) of a paid membership.
  6. Click Save.

The message Your changes have been saved. appears, and the Program card shows the new values.

Note — The Web address takes lowercase letters, digits and hyphens. The Purchase link must be a path within your shop, starting with /. The Duration (days) goes from 1 to 3650 (365 by default). Changing these settings doesn't rewrite membership history: existing memberships and orders are kept.

Add a level

A level sets the discount members get and the points it takes to reach it.

  1. Open Membership and go to the levels tab.
  2. Click Add a level.
  3. Enter a Name. The Level number is given for you.
  4. Leave Status on Activated, or choose Disabled.
  5. Enter the Discount (%) and the Points required.
  6. If you like, list the Benefits, one benefit per line.
  7. Click Save.

The message The level has been added. appears and the level joins the list.

Note — The discount goes from 0 to 100 and the points must be a whole number; otherwise Check the fields: a name, a discount from 0 to 100 and a whole number of points. appears. The level number orders your levels and never changes. A disabled level stays in the list but gives no discount.

Edit a level

  1. Open Membership and go to the levels tab.
  2. Click Edit at the end of the level's row.
  3. In Edit the level, change the Name, Status, Discount (%), Points required or Benefits.
  4. Click Save.

The message The level has been saved. appears. The level keeps its number.

Note — If someone else changed the level at the same time, The level changed while you were editing it. Reload it, then save again. appears and nothing is overwritten.

Delete a level

You can delete a level only when no member currently holds it.

  1. Open Membership and go to the levels tab.
  2. Check that the level's Active members count is 0.
  3. Click Delete at the end of the level's row.
  4. In Delete this level?, under Delete the level, click Delete.

The message The level has been deleted. appears. The level leaves your program and your storefront; past memberships keep their history.

Important — This cannot be undone. A deleted level's number is never reused. If members still hold the level, no Delete button appears and the screen shows Members currently hold this level: it can be deleted once none does.

Change the paid membership's name, price or status

  1. Open Membership.
  2. On the Paid membership card, click Configure.
  3. In Configure paid membership, choose a Status: Draft, Activated, Suspended or Archived.
  4. Change the Name or the Price.
  5. Click Save.

The message Your changes have been saved. appears. The price is in your shop's Currency; the SKU and currency can't be changed here.

Note — If the card shows No paid membership is linked. Configure the program’s SKU first., enter the SKU in the program settings first. An offer with condition-specific prices can't be edited here.

Find a member

  1. Open Membership.
  2. Under Latest memberships, click View all.
  3. Type a name, email or customer ID in Search customers, choose a level in All levels or a state in All memberships (Active, Expired or Historical), then click Filter.
  4. Click Detail at the end of a row to open the customer.

Each row shows the member's Level, their Origin (Paid membership, Manual, Import or Historical import), their Eligibility and the Starts on and Expires on dates. The counters at the top of the first page give the Members in total, Active members, Expired memberships and Historical members. To manage the customer themselves, see Customers.
