AI app

The AI app gathers what the AI does for your shop: translating your product names and the help articles you rewrote, normalizing product pictures, writing search engine content automatically, and the history of every job it ran. The AI app is under Store builder in the main menu, with four tabs: Overview, Translations, Image product and History.

Note — To write a product or category description, or its SEO, with AI, use Generate with AI on the product or the category itself. See Help center and going live.

Check that the AI engine is ready

  1. Open the main menu and, under Store builder, click AI app. The Overview tab opens.
  2. On the Connection card, check the message The AI engine is ready.

The other cards sum up what the AI covers: Automatic generation with its State (On or Off), Search engine (Products, Products with a SEO title, Products with a SEO description) and Translations (Languages served, Translated product names). Recent jobs lists the last jobs; click View all on a card to open the matching tab.

Note — While the engine is not ready, the AI screens show The AI engine is not configured yet. and nothing can be launched.

Translate your product names

Product names are translated into the languages of the countries your shop sells in, other than its own catalog language.

  1. Open AI app and click the Translations tab. The Coverage by language card shows, per language, the Translated names against the Products on sale.
  2. Click Translate with AI.
  3. Under Target languages, tick one or more languages.
  4. In Scope, choose Products missing a translation, or All products (regenerate AI translations) to write them all again.
  5. Check the number under Translations to generate, then click Translate.

The message The translation has been generated. appears and the job is added to Recent jobs. Names you corrected yourself are never overwritten.

Note — Only the products on sale are offered. A name your storefront already shows translated does not count as missing. If your shop sells only in countries that speak its catalog language, Nothing to translate appears instead of the form.

Translate your help articles

Only the help articles you rewrote are translated here: the standard text is translated centrally for every shop.

  1. Open AI app and click the Translations tab. The Help articles card shows, per language, the Translated articles against the Customized articles.
  2. Click Translate the help articles.
  3. Under Target languages, tick one or more languages.
  4. In Scope, choose Articles missing a fresh translation, or Every customized article.
  5. Click Translate.

The message The help articles have been translated. appears and the job is added to Recent jobs. To rewrite an article, see Help center and going live.

Set your translation rules

Translation rules are the words your shop's translations must never use, with the words to write instead, plus your own instructions to the translator.

  1. Open AI app, click the Translations tab, then click Translation rules.
  2. In Instructions for the translator, write what the AI should know with every text it translates for your shop, in every language.
  3. On a Translation rule card, choose the Language it applies to, or keep All languages.
  4. In Never write, enter the words to avoid, and in Write instead, the words to use.
  5. Fill in more Translation rule cards if needed, then click Save.

The message The setting has been saved. appears. Every translation the AI writes for your shop then follows these rules: a translation that uses a forbidden term, in any form, is refused and written again.

Note — The words never to write need 4 letters or more, at most 100 characters, and must not name the shop; the words to write instead must not contain a forbidden term. The instructions take 1,000 characters at most.

Normalize a product image

The tool fits a picture to your shop's layout: a square canvas, the product centered, large on the main image and slightly smaller on the other views.

  1. Open AI app and click the Image product tab.
  2. In Image, pick the picture from your shop's library. If it is not there yet, click Upload an image under Add a picture, add it, then pick it.
  3. In Main image, choose Yes for the product's main picture, or No for another view.
  4. Click Normalize.

The result is saved to your shop's image library, ready to be picked as a product photo, and listed under Recent images. It reads Normalized (a new file), Already conform: nothing to change, or Needs review.

Note — Needs review means the picture could not be fixed safely, for example because the background is not white or the product touches the frame. Check it before using it.

Follow your AI jobs

Every translation or generation runs as a job.

  1. Open AI app and click the History tab. Jobs are listed newest first, with their Date, Status, Type and Items.
  2. Click Detail at the end of a job's row.
  3. On the Status card, read its status, type and dates. On the Progress card, read how many items are Processed, Failed and Held out of the Total.
  4. To stop a job that has not finished, click Cancel the job.

Note — Jobs advance while you browse the AI app pages. Held items keep your own content untouched.

Turn automatic generation on or off

While automatic generation is on, the AI may write search engine content for products and categories that have none, under the same rules as a generation you launch yourself: content you wrote is never overwritten. While it is off, nothing is generated unless you ask for it.

  1. Open AI app. On the Automatic generation card of the Overview tab, click Edit.
  2. In Automatic generation for this boutique, choose On or Off.
  3. Click Save.

The message The setting has been saved. appears, and the card's State shows the new setting.
